"Down to Earth" at Gloucester Cathedral

Yesterday we visited the Harry Picturesque chambers and corridors of Gloucester Cathedral with our environmental drama project "Down to Earth." We had a great day working with over 100 children from 4 different schools. The opening scene looks at how the world is divided between two schools of thought. Those who act wastefully with the worlds resources and those who are grateful and look after them. We show this by dividing the children up into two gangs in a face-off confrontation at the beginning. The gangsfill the space and act out their attitudes through their walk, gestures and movement. Scene Change Theatre have a busy schedule over the next month visiting Guildford, Chichester and Liverpool Cathedrals to name a few. Click on our website linkto see more pics and a write up of the day. 

Trainee Ordinands being creative performing the story of the 3 little pigs

  Today I led a session in Kings School, Canterbury for Ordinands in training at the South East Institute of Theological Education(SEITE). The focus of the session was to rediscover our creativity and be more equipped to connect with young people. We did this through the drama of the 3 little pigs. One group had to tell the story through photo's, one through film, another as a podcast and the final group on a Question Time panel. The results were great! In this picture the group had changed the story to the 3 little wolves and the big bad pig. I guess one hope is that the church might be challenged and inspired to communicate its own stories in a more varied, fun and creative way. 

The boat race 2010

Today Zara and I ventured to Putney bridge to watch the Boat race. We ended up watching from Bishops Parkin the shadow of Craven Cottage (Fulham FC's ground). Up until the point at which the boats passed us Zara was more interested in playing on a bouncy castle and a carousel. As the crowd was several people thick I flung Zara on to my shoulders and took a picture of the two boats neck and neck. It was a really close race and we did manage to see the finish on the big screen provided in the park. A win for Cambridge.
