this exhibit came up in a children's talk on Sunday - the point being made was fair enough but tbh it escapes me now. What I found interesting was the overwhelming assumption by most people that writing on any book (especially the bible) was a very bad thing and that this exhibit was 'horrific'. I don't want to make light of how people regarded the bible, or the minister's point, but I was struck by the place given to the bible as a object and how little that reflected the bible as a conversation. Your post captures some of what troubled me about our communal reaction on Sunday. Thanks.
