Spring in Brockwell park

Irfana, myself and Zara took a walk in Brockwell park this morning and we suddenly got that "Spring feeling. We stumbled across a walled garden and some  model houses and then went for a coffee and snack in Brockwell Hall, a qaint 19th century manor house. All was going well until we started on our way back and the heavens opened. Nevertheless nothing could spoil our spring walk in the park. For some pics from our stroll check out my flikr

e-trax goes live

  e-trax is the new monthly email for young people replacing the previous Youth e-shorts. It will follow the current monthly trax16 podcast commenting on issues raised and giving a biblical perspective on things. Free For All Project 07 on Radio Gloucester

Radio Gloucester visited the Free For All Schools Project at Gloucester Cathedral. Over the week 600 children from 21 schools took part to learn about the slave trade, which was abolished 200 years ago this year. For more info go to www.freeforaltour.info

Free For All on TV and radio

Free For All from Chelmsford will be covered on Radio 4's learning curve tonight at 8 30pm so be sure to listen out for it. Also we are featured on the Channel 5 wesbite as part of St Paul and St Barnabus' programme about stop the traffic in the West Midlands. We started our Free For All tour there in early Jan. We also managed to get on the BBC and ITV news West and be featured on BBC Gloucester radio's Richard Atkins Sunday radio show

Free For All - Gloucester Cathedral

This week we have been in Gloucester Cathedral and have worked with around 600 young people from over 20 schools. It has been a great week and all the children have brought something different each day. We have also had alot of media attention (thanks largely to Chris Crago the education officer) and manged to get on the BBC and ITV News West early on in the week and each day either a local radio station or paper has been there. One of our team , Ade was involved in his other job last night singing with Amy Winehouse at the Brits. She of course won best female artist, so congrats to him. He pulled out all the stops to come and work with us on Wednesday.... I have put up a few pics on Free For All flikr site.

February trax16 on Freedom

  This months trax16 travels with us on our first few Free For All venues in Quinton, Wells, Winchester and Westminster Abbey and interviews young people to find out their views on Freedom and the things they learn about slavery and the slave trade during the week. Joel Baker's (Jonny Bakers son) band Two tone is featured. We recorded it in the British Library, which is an excellent natural recording studio, except you feel like you should whisper... Also Mike has worked hard on trax16's Myspace to give it a fresh new look and has doubled our Myspace friends in just a few days.

Chelmsford - Free For All performance

Friday evening at 6 30pm we put on our second performance of Free For All at Chelmsford Cathedral. Around 250 came along and filled the Cathedral to capacity. The performace was well recieved and with almost 200 children taking part it was packed to the rafters literally. We had a great team of volunteers led by Chuli Scarfe from CMS, who helped to both distribute and collect all the costumes off every child. After the performance many people came up to us individually and were genuinely shocked by the Slave Trade had no idea that Britain had been involved in it. We have also had alot of media coverage this week from both local newspapers and radio aswell as radio four for an educational programme later this month. I got no time to take any pictures unfortunately but others did so I will link to them when they are up. Next week Free For All move on to Gloucester Cathedral.

Bristol apologises for Slave trade

Two public statements of regret for the slave trade by councillors, and civic and church leaders  in Bristol have been made. This is an important step as there has been an air of resentment in Bristol to commemorate the abolition of the slave trade. We will be taking Free For All to Bristol in the week March 19-23 leading up to the actual commemoration on March 25th.
