Family visit

We are now all together in London. Irfana's parents have flown in from Pakistan and her brother and family from Canada. It has been great to take everyone around London by tube, bus and train and see London again through fresh eyes. The name for the London Eye has become the "Ferris wheel" and I have even caught myself saying it. We have visited the main attractions around parliament and Trafalgar square and took a flight today on the Ferris wheel..... I mean the London Eye.

Tikhtak on Premier radio

You can hear my dulcet tones on thought for the day all this week if you are up at 7 30am. Otherwise 3 30pm might suit better. Also hear an interview from Norman Kember, the Christian aid worker kidnapped in Iraq, a few days before he went out, on Premier radio.

Nativity - The unwise man

On Sunday at the Holy Trinity carol service we adapted a nativity play called the Unwise man. It was a simple but effective story about a man who was drawn to follow the star. On his journey he meets the wisemen and the shepherds and helps them on their journey and to find their sheep using his wisdom. Whenever anybody meets him all they can say is "He's so wise!" He even gives the Inn keeper some good advice in Bethlehem by telling him to put a sign up saying "no room at the inn" to srtop people bothering him. The Unwise man gets to stay at the inn and is woken in the night by the brightness of the star. He goes out in to the streets and is led to a barn. He reasons in his wise head that a King could not be born in a barn and walks off. The end. A bit of reality at Christmas!

Goodbye route 159

As I cycled into work this morning I couldn't help noticing people taking pictures of  red London double deckers. To my horror I later discovered that the last red double decker on the 159 route was doing it's last run today. What is taking it's place? The dreaded and evil hungarian bendy bus! I had become accustomed to these living in Prague and was a big fan of them, but I am afraid they don't suite the narrow street s of London. If you haven't noticed I have this London icon in my blog header! As I walked back from twitching a red London bus I walked passed Gandolf (Ian Mckellan) from Lord of the Rings, who is currently performing in Aladdin at the Old Vic. As you can see he is quite a versitile actor. All in all just another day in London.
