Scene Change Theatre Company returned to Southwark Cathedral this week for another day of DOWN TO EARTH. Two local schools came into the cathedral space to rise to the challenge of becoming professional actors and actresses for the day.
We began by ensuring the children could control their bodies and use their ears and voices when required in a demanding warm up activity. Then the 87 children were divided into two groups to work on their different scenes.
Highlights of the day were the 'natural resources' who exploded with life on the stage during the China scene and also the various animals made from children that came to life within the magical Museum scene.
Children take back to their schools a new understanding of the issues of climate change and their responsibility to make a difference and challenge the way the world works. Due to restrictions in using photography on the day, just a few pictures may be viewed here.
